Take Time to Sit With Him

I have had a thought running around in my head this past week and haven't taken the time to get it out on paper (or should I say digital device), so here goes.

As important as it is to spend time with your kids and to make sure their needs are being met (and believe me I am a strong advocate for doing both of these and doing them top notch), the time you take to sit with your Heavenly Father is way more beneficial when it comes to you being a good parent.

I am learning more and more each day, how dependent I am upon God and His wisdom. So often, I try to figure out how to fix a problem, minister to someone in a difficult situation, reach the kids at LFC (a.k.a. Living Faith Church) with the truths of God's Word or create an atmosphere where each child can experience God in a tangible way. In these times, by God's grace, I am beginning to catch myself, backtrack and sit and talk with God about what needs to happen. I find that when I inquire of Him...when I ask Him what needs to be done...how it needs to be done...if it needs to be done, I avoid a lot of frustration and wasted time.

God's Word says in James 1:5, "If any of you lacks wisdom, he should ask God, who gives generously to all without finding fault, and it will be given to him." Notice it doesn't say He may give you wisdom, but it states that He WILL give you wisdom.

God wants to be involved in the smallest, minute' parts of our lives. He longs for that kind of intimacy with His kids. He wants to show us how to handle situations, what His perfect timing is and when to sit back and enjoy the ride. He is waiting on us!

So, this is why I know that the time you sit with God is more beneficial to your becoming the best parent your kid could ever dream of having. When you sit with Him and ask Him, He will give you the wisdom you need to know how to spend the best quality time with your child, how to meet the needs of your child and how to point your child to their Heavenly Father in a way that will have lasting effects on their lives and the lives they will touch along the way.

I am finding, after much trial and error, that life is so much easier when I sit with my Heavenly Father. The day seems brighter, longer and much more effective.

I hope this thought blesses you as much as it is blessing me! And I know as you put it to practice it will infinitely bless your children!!!

Let's Speak Truth Into the HEARTS of Our Most Precious Gifts

I think we all want to get it right! I think this is especially true for parents. I have read a couple of articles lately that spoke to my heart...things that I would want my sons and daughters to know. I am going to post the links below. I hope you enjoy them half as much as I did.
